Hickory, North Carolina
Hickory is located in North Carolina's Piedmont region, 50 miles northwest of Charlotte and 80 miles east of Asheville. Hickorywas incorporated in 1870 and is the geographic and economic center of North Carolina's fourth largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The city spans approximately 28 square miles and is intersected by Interstate 40, US Highway 321 and US Highway 70. The city is located primarily within Catawba County, but its borders extend into portions of Burke and Caldwell Counties.
Conover, North Carolina
Conoveris located in the western piedmont area of the State and is part of the Hickory Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), the fourth largest MSA in the State. Conover is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Charlotte; 60 miles west of Winston-Salem; and 80 miles east of Asheville, and is the geographic center of Catawba County. The City of Conover was chartered in 1876 and incorporated in 1877.
Newton, North Carolina
The City of Newton is located in Catawba County, positioned in the triangle formed by Asheville to the northwest, Winston-Salem to the northeast, and Charlotte to the southeast, all within an hour-and-a-half drive. The gently rolling terrain blends into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains offering residents and visitors an abundance of scenic attractions, a wealth of recreational options, and a temperate climate with four seasons that are as distinct as they are mild.
Granite Falls, North Carolina
Granite Falls is located in southern Caldwell County North Carolina, just north of Hickory, on U. S. Highway 321. Its history dates back before the Revolutionary War. Its origins can be traced to land grants dating back to 1754. Granite Falls was incorporated on May 1, 1899 and was named after the Falls on Gunpowder Creek, where a solid formation of granite spans the creek.

Lenoir, North Carolina
Lenoir is a city located in Caldwell County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,793. It is the county seat of Caldwell County. Lenoiris located in the Blue Ridge foothills, known to the locals as the piedmont area. The city was named for Revolutionary War figure and early North Carolina statesman General William Lenoir, who lived nearby. The Broyhill furniture company, one of the largest furniture companies in the United States, has its headquarters in Lenoir, and is the town's largest employer.
Catawba County
Catawba County, the central county of North Carolina’s fourth largest MSA, has successfully diversified and balanced its traditional manufacturing base of furniture, textile, and telecommunications. However, the layoffs of the last three years have been a challenge to traditional industries that have in the past benefited from Catawba County’s economy being based on manufacturing. Comprehensive efforts are being directed at identifying and recruiting new sectors in manufacturing such as biomedical, pharmaceutical, technology and building products, and identifying and recruiting non-manufacturing sectors such as retirement and retail development. The once tight labor force has transitioned into a pool of skilled workers loyal to the area and its industries. Catawba County has been recognized as being one of the top ten areas in America to raise a family.
Alexander County
Alexander County is a wonderful place to live and work... Located in the foothills of North Carolina, Alexander County is the ideal location to raise a family, retire, or just get away from the stress of daily life. While other areas of the state have become over populated, Alexander has kept its quiet and friendly nature intact. We aren't called the "Gem of North Carolina" for nothing. Sir Thomas Edison's associates described one area as "The most complex geological zone in the world," after finding more than 63 different gems and minerals.
Burke County
Burke Countywith Morganton as its seat, is situated in the section of North Carolina where the rolling hills of the Piedmont blend with the Blue Ridge Mountains. On the south side of Burke County are the South Mountains. To the west are the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Burke County has about 514 square miles, or 329,469 acres, and has a population of 89,148 (census 2000). The largest landowners in Burke County, are the U.S. Government, Crescent Resources (Duke Energy Co.), and the State of North Carolina. The County also has the third largest concentration of state employment in the state through the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Department of Correction, School for the Deaf, Western Carolina Center, and Broughton Hospital. Burke County has been referred to as the “Western State Capital.”
Caldwell County
Caldwell County is close to anything you need, but with enough space to escape to peace and quiet. Its vast expanses of land are dominated by towering peaks, lush valleys, shimmering water and scenic forests, but connected to the state’s leading metropolitan centers. It’s a culture that respects its rich history, but is laying the groundwork for a prosperous future.
Low tax rates, an attractive cost of living, easy access to major interstate traffic corridors and regional airports, reasonably priced property and a growing emphasis on worker education and training make Caldwell County an attractive prospect for new industries and businesses.
